Statement of Intent:

At Alvaston Infant and Nursery School, we aim for all children to be able to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to enable them to become ‘the best that they can be’, both now and in the future.

Through the explicit and implicit teaching of Religious Education we aim to promote curiosity by educating children about religion and other cultures, through high quality teaching, centred around discussions and diverse experiences. Teachers aim to equip children with the knowledge, skills and understanding to ask and seek the answers to ‘big questions’. This will enable children to find out about what people believe and how this makes a difference to how they live. These opportunities will help children discover their own identity and make connections between their views and the views of others.

Through teaching RE, we aim to ensure that all children respect and understand each other so that they can live harmoniously in society.
